As was noted by someone earlier, they can be found in the Pleistocene
loess.  I found one box labeled Carychium exile? from Cagles Mill, near
Cunot, Indiana; Atherton Formation, Cagle Loess Member, Kansan,
Pleistocene ,which I collected in 1973.
