Fellow listers,

I'm seriously looking into taking a trip to Brazil in late June for a couple of weeks. Since I've admired Brazilian music a long time and want to avoid Rio and Sao Paulo (unless there's a compelling reason to go), so I'm probably going to head for Bahia. I can spend some time in Salvador but mostly I'd like to shell and maybe explore a bit. I prefer to stay in a modest place near the beach than a fancy hotel and I'm sure there are plenty of places.

Does anyone have shelling contacts or recommendations for Bahia or nearby? Is Morro de Sao Paulo environs a good location?
