Lyle, Marlo, Roland, and to those who have responded off-list, thank you for your help, kind remarks and interest. Sincerely appreciated.

Yes, there are more species (including Conus cylindraceus). At the top of the “Guam Mollusk” page are references, you can mouse over and click for a link to them. They are the most current lists, freely available for download, courtesy of the University of Guam.

I created the “Guam Mollusk” page simply to list what has been illustrated thus far. But, considering everyone's feedback, I will make some improvements. So this page will likely be subdivided into several, offering a more complete listing for the region. It would essentially mirror what's published but include additional species. That's not too hard to do.

What is hard is keeping up with taxonomy, which is partly why I avoided a complete list in the first place. Will give it my best shot.

To anyone on the list with experience creating or maintaining an on-line database, please feel free to write me off-list ([log in to unmask]) if you have advise or suggestions. It deserves consideration.

All the best!
Bob

Subject: Re: [CONCH-L] More images of mollusks (and shells) from Guam

Hi Bob,

Much to echo Fabio's sentiments, I too have visited the site and blog several times. I am always interested in cones (as you know) and I am somewhat surprised at the lack of diversity for Conidae in this immediate area. Are there more species than what is listed within the photo pages? In particular I was curious that c. cylindraceus was not in the photos section. Has it not been found there?

Lyle
