Not as much a problem as you may think. Just consider the species
Homo sapiens. There are widely different racial forms. But they can
all combine to have children and GRANDCHILDREN. So they are all the
same species. In "lower" life forms, there are differences as well.
Doves recognize their mates even though all doves look alike to us.
