With regret, I must annonce the passing of the grand patriarch of the Cowrie
collectors, author, and a most admired mentor of mine.  Pat died at his home
in the Manoa valley near Honolulu on Thursday, January 21, 1999.  He made
enormous contributions to our hobby, and we will all miss him.   Grant Baldwin
