                          SECOND CALL FOR PAPERS
                  (Please note revised abstract deadline)
WESTERN SOCIETY OF MALACOLOGISTS
                      ANNUAL MEETING JUNE 13-17, 1999

                  California State University, Fullerton

The 32nd annual meeting of the Western Society of Malacologists will
be held at California State University, Fullerton. A symposium entitled
"Current research on west coast molluscan paleontology" is scheduled for
Wednesday morning, June 16 that will highlight molluscan paleontological
research of California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, Baja
California, and Alaska organized by Richard L. Squires (Calif. St. Univ.,
Northridge) and Lindsey T. Groves (Nat. Hist. Mus. L.A. Co.). A field
excursion to collect and observe Late Cretaceous (Turonian through
Campanian) mollusks in Silverado Canyon, Santa Ana Mountains, will follow
the session and lunch break.
An application to present papers and/or posters should be made
as-soon-as-possible and abstracts must be received no later than MAY 15 (or
sooner if possible). Contributed papers should be limited to 15 minutes with
5 minutes allotted for questions and/or discussion. Posters should not
exceed 120 cm by 240 cm (approx. 4 ft. by 7.75 ft.). Abstracts of papers and
posters will be published in the WSM Annual Report.
As this will be the first WSM session devoted entirely to fossil
mollusks since 1989, plan to be a part of this useful contribution to west
coast molluscan paleontololgy.
