Well most of what comes out of improperly cleaned shells is pupas from
flies. I have herd of a fellow shell traded who was attacked by a small
swarm of tiny white flies that emerged from a box of Philippine shells. she
was bitten several times by these still unidentified hitchhikers and had
nice whelts to prove it .
