In 1979 the Bahamas issued a stamp that included a previous stamp with a
shell on it (Scott's no. 1). The other part of the stamp is a picture of a
ship and the words "early mailboat". The stamp says at the top, "Sir
Rowland Hill Centenary of Death 1879-1979".

We have been unable to find Sir Rowland Hill in any of reference resources.
It is more likely that Hill had something to do with the mail service in the
Bahamas than with shells, but is anyone familiar with the name?

I know there are several CONCH-L subscribers who deal in shell books, but I
don't have their pages bookmarked. Can anyone give me a URL for a dealer
who deals in discontinued books? I am specifically looking for Abbott's
"Compendium of Landshells."
