Today I have a rather knotty problem, especially for those interested in
taxonomy.

An author had described a species and deposited the type lot at an
institution.
A first reviser selected and figured one of the specimens from the type
lot as a Lectotype and another specimen as a paralectotype.
Later, a second reviser finds that the Lectotype and the Paralectotype
selected by the first reviser belong to two different species and also
separates the type lot of specimens into two species lots.
The Lectotype selected by the first reviser will of course still bear the
original species name.

Question;
1. Can the specimens in the type lot similar to the Lectotype be
designated Paralectotypes of that species?

The other specimens in the type lot will of course have to be given a new
name.
Question;
1. In such a case will the second species be described as a Nomen Novum
or as a Nov. Spec.
2. If  the specimen selected and figured as a Paralectotype by the first
reviser is to be selected as the Type of the second species, would it be
defined as a Lectotype or as a Holotype of this species?
 This will also effect whether the other specimens of the second species
will be designated as Paratypes or as Paralectotypes.
