Hi Art,
I also have a shell labeled Volva sowerbyana Weinkauf, 1881. It was labeled
such when I got it from an importer/gift shop here in Vancouver. It looks
similar to Phenacovolva brevirostris, but is shorter for it's width
and tan colored rather than pink (may be faded?). It has
the pinkish tips and the central stripe, just as brevirostris.
Collector's Encyclopdeia of Shells (S.Peter Dance, 1974) has it on P.99.
