<Why would anyone want to go to Iceland?>
For shame!!! - Iceland is a great deal more than just a rock in the North Atlantic: it is the living
heritage of the Vikings: a wild, untamed landscape of fabulous, stark beauty, with active volcanos,
mountains, exotic flora and fauna with many interesting endemics, a climate more hospitable than
even much of Canada (not quite the Rivierra, but who REALLY cares??)(due to the beneficial influence
of the North Atlantic Drift - what the Gulf Stream is called this far north), and on and on - not to
mention that the Icelandic people are - despite the savage rep of their ancestors, one of the most
truly "civilized" people on te planet - hospitable to a T, polite to strangers (no matter how
strange..), and many of them speak English in the bargain!! I for one have this fabulously exotic
place near the top of my list of "places i really MUST see someday".
Cheerios,
Ross.
