My experience with poison ivy: I had a very severe case as a child and
appeared to be immune to it after that.

After I was married and had children, we built a house in a wooded area, and
no matter what we put on it, we had poison ivy so entrenched around one tree
we couldn't kill it. My children, as well as my husband, kept having bad
cases of the rash. So I, who thought I was immune, decided to pull it up by
the roots with my bare hands. I came close to having to be hospitalized.
Particularly when some fool told me a folk remedy - to put bleach into the
water in a bathtub and immerse myself in it. O-U-C-H!
