Dear Don;-
Welcome to our secret group of people who collect and hoard the exoskeletons of dead critters. We also watch re-runs of the Twilight Zone. What collecting really is for me is having something to do while my designated wife reads on the beach. This year, we found some especially nice O. sayana near Charleston.
You live in California? I was born out there somewhere.

My shell collecting began about a half century ago when I first contracted the disease and has continued with only minor lapses to the present day. I collect all families and have a collection totaling some 8000 specimens covering ( at last entry ) 5612 species. I am also collecting beach sand samples and have some 360 to date. All my specimens are fully cataloged and cross referenced with my library of about 200 shell related books. If any of you are interested I would like to hear from you.
