 From the nearest point on the mainland, Gobernadora Is. is actually SSE.

Since the isthmus of Panamá is oriented east-west
(not north-south), and the coastline wanders
considerably, I tend to think in terms of the
Caribbean and Pacific side rather than the "east" vs. "west" coast.
