I just bought the new Canon G11. I like it a lot. It is simple and very versatile.  It has an external view finder which is great in bright sunlight.  I could never see the screen in those conditions.  It also has simple settings to include a setting for shooting through aquariums and an under water setting.  Canon has an under water housing available for under $300.  I payed $479 for the camera.
