Sandy,

If you are willing to drive a bit then you might want to visit Panama
City Beach.  They just finished a beach renourishment  project last
week and some interesting stuff is washing out of the pumped in sand.
The last portion finished (and thus the freshest) is on the west end
of the beach--the part nearest to Destin.  Destin beaches are pretty
dismal for collecting as is Choctahatchee Bay due to poor flushing.
There might be some interesting material on the rock jetties of the
Destin Pass but as I've never shelled there I can't confirm that
possibility.
