Hi Chris,
I presume that Poll. indicates Inches: in Italian the name is
Pollici.
Luigi.

Ogg: [CONCH-L] How long ???

Hi all ...
Does anyone have any idea what the unit of measurement "Poll." stands
for
and what the equivalent in the metric system is?
In an 1870 description published in Proc. Zool. Soc., London, I find
that
the length of a specimen is "2 1/2 Poll." ... I've more or less
turned
Internet inside-out .... but no luck so far.
Any ideas out there?
Thx in advance,
Chris
