Thanks Ron,

I will do whatever I can in the shallow water, but in this part of the Leeward Islands, West Indies there is almost no intertidal zone to speak of, as the maximum tidal range is 25 cm, believe it or not. And usually there is very little seaweed, perhaps just some very short algal turf in certain areas.

And on previous visits I did not have permit to collect live material. The Naturalis marine expedition will have all the permits it needs, so that will be a different story.

Yes, I am fond of micros and I already know some of the more obvious species from the general area. I don’t know if the expedition will be sorting micro material on the spot; I am thinking probably they will preserve sediment samples in alcohol and take the samples back to the Netherlands for further study.
