Just really a shout out to the memory of an amazing teacher and grandfather.

Came across this interesting piece of family history (I tried to attach but system won't let me send).

Anyway it was a glorified receipt from the Academy for Specimens of appolon microstoma gathered from Hinga Japan on May 1956.

My Grandfather, Joseph Pentz worked as a volunteer closely with Dr. Pillsbury and R. Tucker Abbott (in his early years) at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia.

I don’t think anyone around these days would remember him.

However, from all the correspondence I have of his I gather he was well known in this circle back in the day (1950's-60's). He had a huge, huge collection that I think he sold off or donated to the Academy.
