To whom it may concern:
 
The Sarasota Shell Show last weekend was a moderate success, in that
attendance was down from last year but we made a profit. We did have some
excellent exhibits including some breathtaking Valentines. Best of all, we
had many new members of the club participating with enthusiasm so that I
think we can build and grow...
 
Scientific trophy winners were:
Dupont: Gloria & Kermit Pearson for Miters of Kwajalein
COA: Peggy Williams for Shelling the Southermost Caribbean
Sarasota Shell Club Members Trophy: Randy Allamand for the Genus Harpa
Best Self-Collected Trophy: Jim Cordy for From Sea to Shining Sea
Best Small Scientific Trophy: Martin Tremor for his worldwide cones
Charles & Violet Hertweck Memorial Trophy: Dale Stream for fossil sea life
Special ribbons went to:
Shell of the Show: Randy Allamand for the Chrysanthemum Cone
Shell of the Show Self-Collected: Blake Banks for the Petrotrochus
adansonianus he caught on his long line
Fossil Shell of the Show: Dale Stream for Spengleria sp
Judges Special Merit Awards to Dale Stream for fossils and Florence
Kuczynski for Florida/Caribbean shells.
