Important information for students studying abroad this fall!

Absentee Voting
To vote absentee you must be registered to vote at least 30 days
before the general election (by October 4th). You can apply for an
absentee ballot up to 180 days before the election in the county in
which you are registered to vote. You can request an application by
letter, stop by the Board of Elections, or visit
<http://www.fvap.gov>. Absentee ballots will be ready 45 days
before the election. If you do not leave until October you can go
to your local BOE and actually vote with the computer voting booth.
If you leave more than 45 days before the election, the ballot will
be sent to you abroad and you will need to return it before the
election. Students can use the host university international office
or the overseas program office as an address.

Exchange Program of the Week

University of Nottingham
The University of Nottingham is one of the United Kingdom’s largest
and most attractive universities. The university has expanded to
four campuses with new academic buildings, residence halls, swimming
pool, an award-winning library, England’s first post-war Medical
School, and Arts Centre. The campus is located in extensive
woodland, parks and playing fields. On campus are numerous shops,
bars and restaurants, and the city centre is only a short bike ride
away.
The University of Nottingham is a community of international
students and staff. Over 26,000 students from 130 countries attend
the school. Both on and off campus housing is available, but most
study abroad students live in university-managed housing. Residence
halls cultivate a community spirit through fundraising competitions
for Karnival (the largest student-run fundraising organization in
the UK) and social events, such as hall formals. A mentoring plan
through the academic departments pairs an incoming student with an
experienced student from the same department to assist the new
student with adapting to university life.
More information about the Nottingham Exchange can be found on our
Web site <http://www.uga.edu/oie/sauk.htm#Nottingham> or in the
Study Abroad Library in 203F Barrow Hall.
