The genus Megalomphalus Brusina, 1971 was transferred from Fossaridae Troschel, 1861 to Vanikoridae Gray J.E., 1840 by Warén & Bouchet (1988. A new species of Vanikoridae from Westearn Mediterranean, with remarks on the Northeast Atlantic species of the family. Boll. Malacologico, Milano, 24 (5-8):73-100); this displacement was motivated by the soft parts. However, in my opinion, also the shell is more similar to Vanikoridae than Fossaridae.
