Very true, Gijs. It is easy enough to take the Tridacna shells
out of Tonga, but you may very well have problems getting
them into your home country. They certify that whale bone
is "old" whale bone, if you buy such carvings in Tonga. They
may do some similar documentation for dead-collected or
aquacultured Tridacna shells there.
