I don't know whether it would make a difference or not.  But Epson has come
out with a model C80, very modestly priced, that uses pigments instead of
dyes.  It is supposed to resist fading much longer than today's dye-filled
ink cartridges.  Maybe if someone on Conch-L has one, they can test it in
alcohol. From their description:

 Water-resistant DuraBriteT Inks with up to 70 year light-resistance
