Ah.... the old trick of using a small aquarium.... Bob Lipe uses it too. Nice shots anyway!

Assunto: Re: [CONCH-L] Underwater pictures
Your underwater pictures are fantastic and sharp - which camera and strobe do you use?
No underwater camera! I bring the shells to shore and put them in a small aquarium which fits in my
carryone. I have a blue plastic file folder for background and bring in "props" - rocks and algae. I
have also made a piece of plastic that just fits in the bottom and has sand glued to it.
I'm using a Nikon D100 (the first digital SLR made) which I bought when they first came out for
about $1000 plus lenses. I use a 60 mm micro which zooms in pretty close, so I can use the flash
that's on the camera without getting flashback. I also use a tripod. Pretty heavy equipment but
worth it for the quality of photographs I get.
I use the Coolpix for field shots. The few underwater pics I have in the Roatan section are by
another person who took 8 rolls of film underwater that trip. Not many of them came out really well.
It was a throwaway camera...
