To all listers:

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is currently
developing a temporary exhibit entitled "What on earth is it" and the
powers that be like the idea of using several Carrier Shells
(Xenophora). We have plenty of specimens that have the usual attached
items including bivalves, gastropods, scaphopods, corals, sponges,
rocks, clinkers, and even a lump of coal. However, we would like to
exhibit a specimen or specimens with unusual attachments such as shark
teeth, bottle caps, coins, broken glass, pop-top rings, etc. Does
anyone on Conch-L have specimens Xenophora with unusual attachments that
we may borrow and/or purchase for this exhibit? Full acknowledgement in
the exhibit would be made to a donor or seller. Additionally, we would
like to include a good resolution image of a living Xenophora (any
species) and/or a video of a specimen either attaching an item to its
shell or 'crawling' on the sea floor. Again full acknowledgement will
be made to a donor. Please contact me offline (unless you think that
the entire list may be interested in your reply). MANY thanks to all in
advance.

Aloha,

Lindsey
