Paul,
Many thanks for letting us know. It is sad news. I had a rather
long chat with Cecelia at the Space Coast Shell Festival this past
January, reminiscing about Tucker and the interesting shell-filled
lives they both led. She was very concerned about the health of the
hobby and knew that Tucker would be very disappointed about the
pressures put upon collecting hobbies like conchology by lawmakers,
and the dwindling and disappearance of local shell clubs. Tucker and
Cecelia were both staunch supporters of COA and did much to advise
the organization in its earliest years. Cecelia carried the torch
for Tucker after he died, and her passing ends yet another chapter in
the history of modern conchology. Tucker's influence undoubtedly
changed the direction and quality of our hobby for the better in the
latter half of the 20th century. If Tucker was considered the Dean
of Conchology, then Cecelia was its first lady. Rest in Peace.
Rich
