Guido, I am a BEGINNING shell collector and appreciate your web site. It
answers many of the questions I would ask, i.e. what is a good book to start

I'm not a cone expert, but seeing thousands of them, here my humble opinion:
C. terminus in general comes from Sri Lanka, and it is definitely different
from C. gubernator, with a range restricted tot he western part of the
Indian Ocean.
About the validity of the name: I' didn't check the original description.
But both taxa are different for sure.
