Forgive me if I don't have the science right, but I believe that some
years ago there were people making mesh forms that were immersed in
sea water, and an electrical charge was run through the mesh so that a
shell like substance would build up on the form. Then the form was
used for boat hulls, and a number of other items. Perhaps you could
have a house that IS a shell!
