Depending upon the species, they can usually live for several days without
water. I would think lack of oxygen is more of a problem. You could ship
via FedEx in some container with air holes, so the snail would only be in
its container for about 12-16 hours, but I dunno how FedEx feels about live
animals. And even then, the container might get buried under tons of other
packages. Depending on how dearly the person wants this snail, you could
try counter-to-counter via one of the airlines, but that runs into rather
big bucks. Of course, if the snail is in winter hybernation (as in the case
of most Florida tree snails), the animal seals off the opening to the shell
against a tree and (I think I'm right about this) doesn't get any air.

So water is actually the least of the problems.
