Dear Andrew;-
        Your logic is impecable. HOWEVER--Big Brother does not trust you. He
fears that if you are allowed to "harvest" a dead shell, then you very
well might hurry a live mollusk into that condition. Now, you and me, WE
wouldn't do that. But Bad Ernie might.
