Yes, the exploration of the Movile Caves complex is still being done.
Many endemic animal species have been discovered and others will be
described soon. A friend of mine working on isopods is studying population
genetics of those crustaceans and is producing very interesting results.
Cave environments provide very exciting natural laboratory to study
evolutionary aspects such as speciation, isolation of populations,
adaptation to special environments etc..
In the marine realm cave molluscs are not very well studies and the few
work so far done (e.g. the Japanese ones) are revealing very interesting
stuff. For other marine animal groups (e.g. sponges, crustaceans, corals,
fishes) mcuh more data have been gathered and hopefully also for molluscs
there will be a similar work.
