Hi All
In 1978 I saved a page from the Air & Space magazine of the Smithsonian
Institution in Washington, DC. It is appropriate to all shellers. The page
talks about devices to help with remembering things. The word Mnemosyme is
old Greeks was the goddess of memory. That word is the ancestor to the
modern term, mnemonic device or memory aid. Here are a few; King Philip,
come out for Gods sake! Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, and
Species. A big one; Camels often sit down carefully. Perhaps their joints
creak. Early oiling might prevent permeant rheumatism. Cambrian,
Ordovician, Silurian, Devonian, Carboniferous, Permian, Triassic, Jurassic,
Cretaceous, Eocene, Oligocene, Miocene, Pliocene, Pleistocene, Recent. Don't
forget Homes; Great Lakes, Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, and Superior. Of
course the first letter of each memonic device is the first letter of the
terms to remember (if you remember the phrase). A long email, have fun!
