Aw , least we forget the Godfather of trading lists that seems to have disappeared.
A fine gentleman by the name of ANGELO BLASUTTO, maintained a extremely useful trading list that he fronted all the cost ,
asked little in return and updated regularly.
Some of my greatest finds was through his trading website, a very generous , and extremely patient man Jean Phillip (i aint
giving the last name ,,,,he's a nice guy and i wouldn't want him "hounded" ) once send me a box of conus from a small island
that is extremely difficult to get specimens from , all the conus were awsome, including a geographus that all the dark
patterning was BLACK, several common conus that were the darkest I'd ever seen ...
Other fantastic trades included a trade thru several persons and many mailing but resluted in a conus cervus , gem perfect,
and 108 mm (rices listed this sized, condition conus at $1,275.00 [Rice's
price guide 1995]) ,,,was I blown away when it finally arrived .... a true center piece of my once great conus collection.
Other trades resulted in small packages with giants inside ,,,,for locating and providing certain strange and rare trividae a
very nice gentleman sent me , completely out of the blue, a conus excellus (yes "T" the same one you have ) ..and earlier a
conus pictus at 58mm...
So as you all go forth and journey into the fascinating world of shell trading remember this , out of some 50 trades only one
went wrong and it was due to "miscommunication" and was made better the very next trade..
For the "new at this idea" crowd, may a successful shell trader pass on a few good tips,,,
1), Always be generous, if the person like muricidae, give them extras or even include surprises...
2), be patent, all things work out in the end. sometimes the foreign mail services also collect shells and pilfer packages.
It took two packages once to complete a trade as the mail person stole the first one ,,,, the second parcel I packed to look
like something dangerous, including the use of yellow/black caution tape and a label that read "opening parcel can release a
plague" ....the post office laughed , the person got the parcel...
3), the use of a label reading (SCIENTIFIC SAMPLES NO COMMERCIAL VALUE) this seems to prevent most curious postman and
clears customs easier.
4), THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE OR GUIDELINE, YOUR REPUTATION IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THE LAST TRADE, you think that someone will
ignore being "ripped off" ,,,you'll never see another trade....

Good luck, happy trades, and have fun ...
