Dear Mr. Huang and Conch-L members,

I answer this here as it will be of interest to other shellers.

Cowries are indeed, without doubt, the most popular shells and we intend to
handle them by genus, extensively, in the Iconography. However, Conchbooks
are also publisher for the Lorenz & Hubert book, and in order to avoid
double investments (that are huge) we plan to start the cowries when most
copies of the new edition o the Cowry book are sold.

The purpose of the Iconography is also to publish less popular groups. A
first try is done in this direction with the Acavidae part I, that will
appear around january. It handles the genera Acavus from Sri Lanka, Stylodon
on the Seychelles, and all Madagascar species except the huge Ampelita group
that will be treated in a separate part. We hope to get a break-even with
this part in order to be able to handle more such subjects.

In the meantime, very soon will appear a part on Haliotidae, together with
Daniel Geiger. (september)

For the end of the year the genus Calliostoma, with Dirk Stratmann.

the year 2001 is expected to bring all Pectinidae,in more than 300 plates
the year 2002 should see all Ovulidae, also with about 300 plates

In the meantime people are working on Turbinidae, Tonnidae, Argonautidae,
Nautilidae etc...

We do not yet have a distributor for Japan. It is very kind of Mr. Saito to
bring some copies to his customers after each shell trip.

Guido
