You are right. Tucker did research and published at least two articles on
the giant snail, one in 1948, "The spread and destructiveness of the giant
African land snail *Achatina fulica*, The Nautilus 62: 31-34, another in
1949, "March of the giant African land snail *Achatina fulica*, Natural
History 58 (February): 68-71.
