I think that the number of popular books for collectors simply reflects
the number of collectors willing to pay for such books to be produced.
Bivalves are generally less esthetically pleasing (shape and colour),
less easily handled (with 2 valves) and generally thought to be harder to
identify  (which, of course, is because there are so few popular
books...)
