>Hello Gang,

>Since I will be joining the fun at Orlando this summer, and being both a
land and marine shell collector, I was hoping that we could get a thread
going on the land snail collecting/observation possibilities in the Orlando
area. What does the area have to offer at that time of year? Collecting
tips would also be helpful.

Keeping with its international flavor, parts of Dizzy World are overrun by
an exotic snail, Bradybaena similaris (Ferussac, 1821), originally from Asia
(Thanks to Kurt A for the ID). At the Caribbean Resort last year, this was
the only snail to be found, but in abundance. Look for it after rain
(everyday) or sprinklers (everyday, regardless of rain), or early in the
morning on walls and in the branches of any of the exotic bushes they have
there.

It probably has a common name. Do you want the English? Chinese (which
dialect?)? German? etc. But if you look in an English/Chinese/German/etc
field guide under Bradybaena similaris you can find it. And the moral is...
