OK, tried to continue a thread by Shelley about conus cleaning I.E. american
conus... somehow it was rejected because the ferret never noticed a little
attachment on the message abd i just had to play "dissect the e-mail" for
the last 10 minutes ,, so i cut/copied the part i added. so bear with it and

1980 "ish". As I remember (of course general anathysia from 6 major =
surgeries in 23 months has left me with a few " holes" in the old memory =
file system upstairs ) where was I again,,,, oh yea ,, the article =
refereed to using conus textile to clean several species of cypraea , as =
soon as the "to be cleaned " cowries were dropped in the aquarium the =
textile would move out of it's lair  (clean sand bottom) and would go =
right after the cowries , with syphonal tube erect the "hunter" would =
chase down the helpless cowries and systematically sting, then envelope =
the cowry and hours later would spit out the empty , perfectly cleaned =
cyp. like a cleaning machine . Interestingly the shell would not have a =
trace of etching from bile or digestive secretions....=20
Sir Tom Barclay wrote some fascinating articles of conus verse cowries =
in "CONUS WARS" which can be found in the Conch-L archives .... still =
some of the best observations of the interactions between Indo-Pac =
mollusks of all time , then that's my opinion... Oh , and the article on =
the textiles involved the Hawaiian textile conus but since they are all =
in the Indo-Pac realm it's pertinent.... best wishes and happy hunting =
