I just received the following question and I have to admit I have never seen
this phenomenon. Sounds like they have a problem. How about you freshwater
types, any responses I can forward? Thanks,

Tom Eichhorst in New Mexico, USA

My friend and I fish regularly on a small lake in Northeast Texas and
have noticed the last few trips of quite a number of mussels floating
across the lake , most of which appear to be alive. It seems unusual to
see them floating and we were wondering if this is a means of
propagation? Are they being carried by the wind to a different part of
the lake or is something else going on?
I hope you have time to comment on this mystery to us.
Regards
Ron Morgan
