it.
 
Gary is of course correct that the type lot must be restricted to humans in
Linnaeus' ken as of 1758. So much for my warm feeling: killed by a cold
fact. It's interesting that Linnaeus thought that the main difference
between humans and chimpanzees was whether they were diurnal or nocturnal.
And he didn't even get it right, since chimpanzees are primarily active
during the day, and grad students (whom many consider to be human) are
chiefly active at night. Gary, I'm curious. Did Linnaeus really think that
chimps "know themselves" (i.e., are sentient)?
