Dear Mr. Weil,
Our Club members who can provide the definitive answers are either on
vacation or have possibly been called up to the Reserves, but there were no
extra polo type (collar and pocket) with COA logo left over that were sold
at the COA 2001 Convention at the Port in Cape Canaveral this past July.
Since I had nothing to do with the acquisition of the shirts, I can praise
fellow Astronaut Trail Shell Club members B.J. Shouppe, Doris Underwood,
Bobbi Cordy, et. al. for their brilliant idea to get a COA logo polo shirt
that is useable after the convention. I hope our friends in Sarasota do
the same. Shirts for our convention were pre-ordered, based upon the
registration forms which included a line to order the shirts, which is the
best way for a host club to provide some financial way to properly ensure
that the expenses of obtaining the shirts are met (tee shirts advertizing a
particular event usually have a short shelf-life --- no pun intended---
after the event is over). I am sure that you have many folks in Cincinnati
ask what a conchologist is, that is, if you haven't spilled any of that
world famous Cincinnati chili on the logo.
Hope to see you in Sarasota for COA 2002, for if one has to collect marine
shells instead of the more preferable land shells or fresh-water bivalves,
Epitoniidae is certainly a good family to study.
