Talking of Janthina, I recall finding them in very big numbers in a beach
called Souillac in the south of Mauritius in 1996, just two/tree months
before a cyclone sweep this region. Was this an indication of the future
cyclone ? Who noes :-) !! This beach was also much covered with the purple
dye on the sand (latter all over my hands).
Just as a curiosity, some the specimens I collected had tiny colonies of
goose barnacles attached to the shell.

        Cumprimentos,

        Carlos
