Scott,
the first reference that you provide comes probably from:

FLORENTINO AZPEITIA Y MOROS, "Significado y valor de las especies fósiles,
como argumento en Geología para la clasificación y distinción de los
terrenos", an admission speech in the Real Academia de Ciencias. Probably,
it contains some references to Hidalgo work but, although I didn't see it, I
am very doubtful about its malacological importance.

About the second one, sorry, but I have no idea...
