Dear friends:

I am working on the biogeographical relationships of a molluscan family in
the Atlantic. For that, I need to tabulate the geographical distribution of
the species, but I have some doubts about the boundaries of some
biogeographical provinces. Could you please correct the next considered
provinces?

1) GRE ? Greenland, western shores of Baffin Island, Baffin bay and Davis
Strait;
2) NSC ? Nova Scotia province: Atlantic shores of the USA, between
Newfoundland (50ºN) and Cape Cod (42ºN);
3) VIR ? Virginian province (sensu Engle & Summers (2000)): Atlantic shores
of the USA, between Cape Cod (42ºN) and Wilmington Beach, North Carolina
(34ºN);
4 ) CRL ? Carolinian province: Atlantic shores of the USA, between
Wilmington Beach, North Carolina (34ºN) and Cape Canaveral (28º30'N);
5) TRO ? Tropical province: Atlantic shores of the USA south of Cape
Canaveral (28º30'N), including western and eastern shores of Florida, the
entire Gulf of Mexico (Louisiana and Texas shores as well as Yucatan
Peninsula, Mexico), Bahamas, Caribbean Sea and northern South America
shores south to Cabo Frio (Brasil) (23ºS);
6) BRA ? Brazilian province: this includes both Paulista and Patagónica
provinces sensu Palacio (1980), between Cabo Frio (23ºS) south to Rio da
Prata (35ºS);
7) SSA ? southern South America: including Malvinas province (sensu
Palacio, 1980) - Atlantic shores between Rio da Prata (35ºS) south to
Tierra del Fuego and Cape Horn, Los Estados Island, Falkland Islands
(Malvinas), Burdwood Bank and South Georgia Island;
8) ANT - Antarctica ? from 60ºS on, including South Orkney Islands (with
Signy Island), South Shetland Islands, Antarctic Peninsula and Weddel Sea.

I specifficaly would need to know what are the boundaries of the Acadian
Province, located north of Nova Scotia province.
I thank you for the corrections/suggestions and I wish all of you a Merry
Christmas and a Happy New Year!

With very best wishes,

Sérgio
