Dear Arno and Kurt

Unfortunately our bid to GBIF ECat for NAM names catalogue failed. This would have put our part of East African non-marine molluscan names database on-line, and complete the "gaps" between our East Africa database and Dai Herbert's South Africa database and merge other existing new word file name catalogues! We will try again next year, as clearly some people want access to the data.

So our current record data in this case from Verdcourt (1983) says:
Achatina iredalei Preston,1910
Kenya; Shimbi Hills (Witu). Tanzania: northern coastal region.
Verdcourt (pers comm) suugests that this may be conspecific with Achatina allisa Reeve, and if so the Reeve name would take priority.

Hope this helps

Best wishes

Mary Seddon

Wedi ei archwilio am feirysau gan Amgueddfeydd ac Orielau Cenedlaethol Cymru. Checked for viruses by National Museums & Galleries of Wales.

Dear Arno,
I know it from Tanzania....but I don't think it occurs in the lowlands,
i.e. most of Zanzibar.

Kurt
