Another programme that is generally easy to use to set up your own cataloguing system for collections is Filemaker Pro. There are already solutions as templates which can be purchased for collection management in US, and some Museum collections use Filemaker for their documentation. It is a cross platform product (those of you who use Mac's will be aware that Access is not available for Macs!). It is really easy to design your own flatfile database in Filemaker Pro (my mother did her own garden plants database at the age of 68, never having used a database before in her life). Making it relational takes a bit more thought! If you have Appleworks then you have a cut down version of the original database which would work for simple solutions.

Best wishes

Mary
