Someone recommended microwaving shells inside zip-locks. It works but the plastic gets kind of "holy." The idea is to wait for the first big popping sound and then shut off the microwave. The animal should be easy to pull out.

This was MY microwave and the shell exploded. Waow ! Since that, never used
again for shell cleaning.
