After many moons of labour, Paul Kersten and i would like to present a
"draft version" of an online Checklist of the Living Conidae, with 2720
photos of the worlds's 610 or so species and 960 or so total "valid"
taxa currently representing our favorite Molluscan family. Paul did
most of the taxonomic research, as well as some excellent photographic
composites of many species and forms, with the assistance of several
regional experts such as Manuel Tenorio, - a part of the West African
and Cape Verde crew. I would like to thank all those who contributed,
especially LaVerne Lambert, who helped straighten out a lot of the
"nitty gritty details" such an undertaking requires, and Gene Mallory,
who kindly permitted us to use his initial list as a "base compilation",
thus saving us quite a bit of re-inventing the wheel.

The Checklist can be found at
http://www.schnr-specimen-shells.com/ConidaeChecklist.html ,
and for those who would like to download the entire file at once (about
720K), the undivided version can be found at
 http://www.schnr-specimen-shells.com/ConeChecklist.html .

We are still missing images of species and forms, and could use more
images of a good number of the rarities -- so if anyone can help with
these, we would be most delighted. Also, despite several
"all-nighters", there are undoubtedly not a few errors remaining, which
we would also be **very** pleased to hear about.

Sincerely yours,
A couple of Serious Coneheads.

P.S.: Apologies for cross-posting!!
