I think the record holder is the freshwater mussel Uniomerus, able to
survive at least a few years out of water. At least one Asian
unionoid can survive a few months out of water-there's a Journal de
Conchyliologie note about a specimen discovered to still be alive
after shipping from Asia to France in the late 1800's. However, no
indication of what taxon it might be was given.
